Nac Mac Vegan: adventures in rabbit food

English – American dictionary

I live in Scotland, and therefore use mostly UK English in my recipes. For the benefit of American readers, here’s a glossary to help translate this blog. This list will be added to whenever I use a term which I know to be different.

Ingredients
aubergine – eggplant
bicarbonate of soda – baking soda
courgette – zucchini
plain flour – all-purpose flour
rape seed – canola
spring onions – scallions
soya – soy
wholemeal – wholewheat
yellow courgette – yellow squash

Equipment
baking sheet/tray – cookie sheet/tray
frying pan – skillet

Techniques
grill – broil
